If I Were... (original)

If I were an elephant

I’d have a great, long nose

I’d pull down leaves, and fruit from trees

And tickle people’s toes!

If I were a cheetah

My speed would be so great

No matter when I left for school

I’d never turn up late!

If I were a chimpanzee

I’d jump and climb and run

I’d play all day with all my friends

And we’d have such good fun!

If I were a hippo

I’d have a big huge mouth

The top half would point to the North

The bottom to the South!

If I were a lion

I’d have the grandest mane

With my big paws and big loud roars

I’d roam across the plain!

If I were a tall giraffe

My head would be so high

I’d try to look above the clouds

And watch the planes go by!

If I were to be a coiled snake

Instead of words I’d hisssss

But my family tells me

That I’m perfect just like this!
